BEYOND THE GAME WITH WILL KAMIN

Wil Kamin has been the starting kicker for the Charlotte Christian’s varsity football team for the last four years. All four seasons he received all-conference and all-state honors. Wil also punted for the Knights, along with lettering four years as a part of the school’s soccer team. He received all-state honors in soccer as well. He will attend the University of Richmond next season on a football scholarship. 

How did your football season go this year?
        
"Football season went great this year. We won the state championship against our arch rivals Charlotte Latin. I received all conference and all state honors."

What are you doing this summer as far as football goes?

"This summer I am kicking throughout the summer with my high school special teams coach. I also work out everyday in the weight room."

What is the most exciting part of playing football for you?
       
"The most exciting part is having the pressure on you before a big kick in a game. It is a great feeling to kick it and know that is going in right off of your foot."

Do you have a favorite memory from playing football during high school?
        
"My favorite memory so far from playing football is winning the state championship this year. It was a great time with all my friends and the memories will last a lifetime."

What is your favorite subject in school and why?
        
"My favorite class would be business or economics because that is what I want to study in college. It is very interesting to me and I like learning stuff that will one day make me money."

What is something about you that most people do not know?
        "Most people don't know that I have been to over 7 countries to play soccer. This is what got me into playing football but most people dont know I played soccer for so long."

Who has been the most influential person throughout your football career?
       
 "The most influential person during my football career would be Joe Simmons. He has been my special teams for 4 years now and now seems to be like an older brother than a coach. He has taught me about kicking and also life."

What is one hobby you like to spend time doing off the football field?
        
"One hobby that I love doing outside of football is just hanging out with my friends. Playing sports all my life has left me with some great friends and I love spending time with them."

Are you looking forward or are you nervous to start playing football in college in the fall?
       
"I am really excited about playing next year. I dont feel nervous because I feel confident with myself that I can play and compete at that level. I am more excited about the new challenge than nervous"
